How to get there?
From San José, take the highway towards Limón. This highway winds through the Park, and passes by two ranger stations points: the Zurqui sector and the Carrillo sector (Quebrada Gonzalez).
The park is fundamental for the protection of the water resources of the Northern sector (Sarapiqui) hydroelectric project, which supplies water to a large portion of the Central Valley.
Primary cloud forest and rainforest covers the park which abounds with flora and fauna species in its multiple life zones. This huge primary forest, the largest protected area in the country is also the home of countless rivers and magnificent waterfalls.
The three ranger stations of Braulio Carrillo National Park are open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Several scenic hiking trails wind through the different sectors, come here early in the morning to witness the moment during which the misty clouds unveil the tree tops.
