Lomas de Barbudal Biological Reserve

Lomas de Barbudal Biological Reserve
Another neighboring protected wildlife area in the region of Guanacaste is the Lomas Barbudal Biological Reserve located to the north of Palo Verde.

It is known for its biodiversity and the number of insects species making it a special site for entomological investigation.

In addition it has several diverse habitats that include lowlands savannas, dry tropical and humid forests. There is a diverse number of tree species which include the well-known yellow oak , that blooms in march filling the landscape with its yellow aura.

Mammals endemic to the area are the White-faced and Howling monkey (Congo).
