Jaco Beach
The proximity of Jacó to the capital city makes it the most visited beach in the country by both foreigners and Costa Ricans. It takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hrs. to get to Jacó from San José passing through a mountain section of the road called “el Aguacate” a section where driving at night has to be taken very seriously.Buses to Jaco departs from Coca Cola bus terminal (Ca. 16, Av.1/3), on weekends buy ticketsor one day in advance.
Jacó with its wide and long beach of approximately 4 km. (2,5 miles) is contoured by hills on either end from which one can admire beautiful views of this gently curved gulf.The town offers one of the most extensive selections of tourist services in Costa Rica.
Surfing is perhaps the number one activity here, swimming has to be done with caution for its strong currents; fishing is also big here with a large choice of boats to charter.
Visitors can also chose from sever other activities like, Waterfalls Canopy tours, Aerial tram, ATVs, car and bike rentals, scooters, horse rentals, golf and a wide choice of tours in the nearby national parks and reserves, like the National Park of Carara and Manuel Antonio among others.
