Playa Esterillos
The main road called “La Costanera”, that joins Puntarenas, Jacó, Esterillo, Quepos and Manuel A., runs inland away from the outskirts of this small village. Very few travelers on the road to Quepos and Manuel Antonio visit Esterillo, those who do end up by spending more than a night here.
Built along its 6.4 km (4 miles) long beach, it is divided into two areas: Esterillos Este (east) and Esterillos Oeste (west). The name “Esterillo”(Spanish for “small estuaries”) indicates the presence of various small estuaries where water makes its last effort to sea.
Esterillos Oeste offers better surf but both are great huge beach spaces to enjoy, or for the practice of all kind of sports, you swimmers watch out for the waves and those strong currents.
The place is slowly developing but maintaining its flavour. There is an interesting choice of good restaurants, family-run hotels, nice bars on the beach, a small but definitely a cozy place to stay.
