San Pedro and Los Yoses
About 2 kms (approx. 1.2 miles) East of San Jose's city center, lie the residential neighborhoods of Los Yoses and San Pedro. The rotunda of the "Fuente de la Hispanidad" and the San Pedro Mall are the area landmarks having to the West side Los Yoses and to the East side San Pedro.
This small cosmopolitan neighborhood lies on the bustling Avenida Central having as town center the little Plaza with the San Pedro "Iglesia" (church). A few blocks Norh of the Plaza de San Pedro is the Universidad de Costa Rica Campus (The Costa Rican University or "U.C.R.").
Due to the high presence of young students and intellectuals, the area around the University is bursting with many interesting avant garde style bars and restaurants. All this attractions make San Pedro and its famous street called "Calle del Amargura" a nightlife destination especially amongst youngsters.
